Many people aren’t aware that the for-profit education industry is a powerful infrastructure that has pushed its way onto our public schools via charters and digital technology initiatives. In cities throughout the United States these privatization efforts are primary targeting low-income communities and POC. Activists are meeting these challenges by organizing against school closings and for greater community control in education. Educators across the country recently took part in the Black Lives Matter Week of Action in schools to engage educators, students, and stakeholders in issues affecting their community.
